I think one of the best parts of waking up is my morning skin care routine because I’m giving my face the love it deserves! I have acne-prone skin so using the best quality products for me is a must! Sticking to non-comedogenic, cruelty-free, and/or plant-based products have worked so well for my skin so, like my makeup, I also use these types of products in the morning. I used to use every product under the sun for my morning routine but found I was doing more damage than good. Sometimes it’s best to keep it simple and let the quality of the product do its job. Wake up and give your beautiful face some love like I do below!
My Morning Skincare Routine
Step 1:
I start with dampening my face with warm water first then I use Clarin’s Gentle Foaming Cleanser to wash away any impurities. This product is great for acne as there’s no SLS in it (that synthetic stuff that makes your product foam up), it leaves your skin feeling truly clean and fresh, AND a little goes a long way! There are also tiny little beads in the formula to gently exfoliate your skin. I finish this step by rinsing my face with COOL water to lock in my giant pores (sigh!) and wake my butt up!
Step 2:
Moisturize! Sticking to Clarin’s of course, I use their Multi-Active Day Cream Gel. I use their gel formula in the morning specifically as it’s lighter and best for acne-prone skin. Since I’m thirty, flirty, and thriving, this product is best for targeting fine lines and incorporates antioxidants in the formula. High five to youthful looking skin! BUT before I do this, I have a confession to make. I wake up with the worst bags under my eyes! Especially on an early morning. I do my best to minimize the appearance of my bags by sticking a couple of teaspoons in the freezer to get them nice and cool, then gently apply under eyes. I know it sounds SO strange, but it works for me!
I finish off the morning with Clarins Multi-Active eye cream. It comes with a stainless steel applicator that’s naturally cool (to target those bags!) and makes it easy to smooth the product gently under the eyes – good bye crow’s feet and under-eye bags! Should I come across any of those red bumpy friends on my face, I target them with Burt’s Bees Herbal Complexion Stick (check out my review on this awesome product here). The tea tree oil in this product is the perfect natural disinfectant – see you later acne!
Pretty simple right? Believe it or not, there was a period of time where I didn’t treat my face in the morning AT ALL. I thought it would help my acne and, to be honest, it sort of did but, at the end of the day, it’s really best to wash away your night creams and/or serums and start fresh! Wishing you a fresh-faced day ahead!
