If you have sparkling, chocolate brown peepers like me then high five to you! Really, high five because we’re in luck. Due to the color and nature of our eyes, nearly all makeup colors work for us – yay! With that said, there are still a few techniques we can adopt to really make our eyes brighter and truly make them POP! But if you don’t have brown eyes, don’t fret! It’s always great to learn and adapt to your specific needs. Read on for some tips that I’ve come across!
Plum eyeshadow
It may seem strange, but this is actually a beautiful complimentary color for dark brown eyes. The purple tones can really bring out those lighter, golden hints of color in your eyes. Very earthy and very Fall forward!
For this look you’ll need:
1. Brown eyeshadow
2. Plum eyeshadow
3. Dark purple eyeshadow
4. Eyeliner
5. Mascara
How to get this look:
1. Use a brown shade with pink undertones as a transition shade in the crease;
2. Apply a plum shade at the middle and inside of the eyelid;
3. Apply a dark purple shade in the outer corner and blend it out;
4. Apply eyeliner and mascara.
Dark Green Eyeshadow
Ooh how bold is this! This color will definitely make, not just your eyes, but OUTFIT pop. Can you imagine pairing a dark green eye with a really chic black outfit, as an example? SO stunning. Going with an eyeshadow with some shimmer to it for an evening event would be such a fun way to amp this up.
For this look you’ll need:
1. Warm brown eyeshadow;
2. Dark green eyeshadow;
3. Black eyeshadow;
4. Mascara;
5. Eyeliner.
How to get this look:
1. Use a warm brown color as a transition shade in the crease;
2. Apply a dark green shade all over the eyelid;
3. Apply a black shade to the outer corner;
4. Apply eyeliner and mascara.
Grey eyeshadow
I’ve never been a huge fan of applying a black shadow all over the lid so enter grey as a softer option! I feel like if your eyes are a little on the lighter brown side, they will really stand out with this color. Pairing this look with a winged liner would be the cherry on top!
For this look you’ll need:
1. Soft brown eyeshadow;
2. Grey eyeshadow;
3. Black eyeliner (use a liquid liner if you’re going for the winged look!);
4. Mascara.
How to get this look:
1. Use a soft brown color as a transition shade in the crease;
2. Apply grey eyeshadow to your eyelid and blend;
3. Apply eyeliner and mascara.
Gold Eyeshadow
OMG I just love the way gold toned shadows look with my eye color! It’s a great way to amp up a neutral look and so versatile. Pairing a black liner with gold is such a beautiful contrast. Like the plum eyeshadow, gold will bring out the golden flecks of color in our brown eyes!
For this look you’ll need:
1.Brown eyeshadow;
2. Gold eyeshadow;
3. Black gel liner;
4. Mascara.
How to get this look:
1. Apply the brown eyeshadow into the crease and slightly extend it into the browbone. Blend well;
2. Using your middle finger, apply gold eyeshadow to the center of your eyelids and gently spread across remainder of eyelid with your brush;
3. Apply thick, winged liner;
4. If you want to go for the ‘cut crease’ look, apply concealer in the crease with a clean liner brush. Follow the line of the winged liner and wing out the concealer to match;
5. Apply mascara and smoke out the bottom of your lashes with the brown eyeshadow.
Bronze eyeshadow
Like the gold eyeshadow, I LOVE a bronze-y eye look! It’s so complimentary and can easily be amped up with some shimmer for a nighttime look. I find this works so well with most outfits and pairs so well with a neutral lip. Add a pair of lashes to make this a show stopping look!
For this look you’ll need:
1.Brown eyeshadow;
2. Dark brown eyeshadow;
3. Bronze eyeshadow;
4. Eyeliner;
5. False lashes.
How to get this look:
1. Use the brown eyeshadow as a transition shade in the crease and extend slightly into the browbone;
2. Apply the dark brown eyeshadow in the outer corner and in the crease to intensify the look;
3. Using your middle finger, apply bronze eyeshadow to the center of the eyelids and gently spread across remainder of eyelid with your brush. Blend well;
4. Add eyeliner and false lashes.
Rose gold eyeshadow
I love rose gold anything – really! It’s a beautiful warm shade that makes anything pop, including your brown peepers. This is a nice subtle substitute to the bold gold or bronze looks which can also be built up or down depending on your mood.
For this look you’ll need:
1. Nude brown eyeshadow;
2. Mauve eyeshadow;
3. Rose gold eyeshadow;
4. Eyeliner;
5. Mascara.
How to get this look:
1. Use the nude brown eyeshadow as a transition shade in the crease;
2. Apply the mauve eyeshadow in the outer corner;
3. Apply the rose gold shade on the eyelid and inner corner;
4. Apply liner and mascara.
Soft brown eyeshadow
You’re probably thinking, why would I use a BROWN eyeshadow look on my BROWN eyes. Well like above, this is a beautiful and versatile look that’s so complimentary to the light brown in your eyes. Matching is no big deal here! This is perfect for an everyday look.
For this look you’ll need:
1. Tape;
2. Soft brown eyeshadow;
3. Brown eyeliner;
4. Mascara.
How to get this look:
1. Place a piece of tape along your upper lash line to create a sharp wing with the eyeshadow;
2. Use a soft brown shade all over your eyelid;
3. Apply a brown liner on your upper lash line and blend it out;
4. Remove tape and finish with mascara.
