If you read my post How to Make your Lipstick Last, you know how important a good, long lasting lipstick is to me! There are many techniques I talked about to make your lipstick last but, the product you use plays a huge role as well. Matte lipsticks, in particular, have grown so much in popularity! There’s a good reason why – they last. Not only will they last with the techniques I’ve developed but, they last on their own when you’re on the run and have just enough time to swipe some color on your lips before your big meeting!
Here are a few of my favs that I LOVE and have found to be cost effective, long lasting, and non-drying (i.e. No skeletor lips here!).
My Favorite Matte Lipsticks
1. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream
So affordable, available in most drugstores, come in amazing colors, long lasting – need I say more? I find this dries on my lips fast making it completely acceptable to eat or drink right after application (yay!). I use shades Athens, Stockholm, Cannes, and Abu Dhabi on the daily! (Side note: Can I please go to all of those cities?!)
2. Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink
The name says it all! It definitely SUPER stays in place and, like my first pick, very affordable. This can feel a little sticky on the lips at first but, give it a chance to dry and settle in your lips. You’ll love it! I really like the doe-foot applicator on this one too. It’s stiffer then you’re typical lipstick/lipgloss applicator therefore, it allows for better application control.
3. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick
This one’s a little on the pricey-er side but it’s worth the extra $$! There isn’t a huge color offering but the shades they do offer are just beautiful and versatile! Similar to the Maybelline product, it takes a bit of time to dry but, so worth it in the long run!
4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick
Another one that’s slightly on the pricey-er side but SO good. SO many colors available too! Glides on like a dream.
5. Urban Decay Lipstick
A beautifully, creamy formula – I love the way this one feels on my lips. Their shade options are endless. I’m particularly obsessed with their nude shades, like Uptight. This one comes in a more traditional-looking lipstick bullet which would make you think it’s just your ordinary lipstick but it’s so much more!
