Now that we’ve talked about How to Make Your Foundation Last – let’s move on to the lips! Who doesn’t love a nice pout am I right? The lips play such a big role in your overall makeup look – they can be neutral, add a pop of color, or coordinate with your outfit. The only problem is, as soon as you take a sip of your morning coffee, half of it is gone (ugh!). Not to worry, follow this step-by-step lip routine for lasting, kissable lips today!
How to Make Your Lipstick Last
Step 1:
Exfoliate your lips. If you’re like me, you hate when your pout develops those little bits of flaky skin. Talk about a lipstick ruiner! That’s where exfoliator comes in. There are tons of products specifically for exfoliating your lips, but I prefer to use my face scrub (just try not to get it in your mouth!). After cleansing your face, use a bit of your favorite face scrub to gently exfoliate your lips, using circular motions.
Step 2:
Now that your pout is silky smooth, make it last with lip balm. Apply a thin amount all over your lips using your middle finger. I love lip salves as they typically have few ingredients and really keep your lips moisturized.
Step 3:
This step might seem strange but, trust me, its for the greater good of your lipstick journey! Taking a sheet of tissue (a.k.a. Kleenex), divide in half so you’re only left with one ply of tissue. Press the tissue over your lips and, using your powder brush loaded with a bit of loose setting powder, apply light amount of powder directly onto tissue. A bit of the powder should seep through the tissue.
Step 4:
Apply lip liner. Lip liner is HUGE for making your lipstick last. Outline your lips AND fill them in with your lip liner for a true lasting affect. Then, repeat step 3.
Step 5:
Apply lipstick. We’re finally ready for lipstick! Swipe on your favorite shade starting at the middle of your bottom lip, working your way outwards. Repeat for upper lip.
